Boro continued their assault on the Zamaretto League Premier Division title, coming from a goal behind to secure all three points at Cherrywood Road. Tiverton boss Martyn Rogers celebrated his 1000th game in charge of the Devonian club, an achievement marked by Farnborough with a presentation before the match.![]() After two mid week Cup matches where Boro boss Steve King ringed the changes he everted to the line up which started against Halesowen Town seven days previously, the only changes to the squad being on the bench, Craig Braham- Barrett who signed in midweek replacing James Smith who is scheduled to undertake a small procedure on his broken nose in the week, and Anthony Thomas in for Bobby Hopkinson. Tiverton started the game brightly and it was the visitors who always looked the most likely to score in the opening exchanges, Stuart Robinson having to be on his game as he first denied a Colin Marshall header from Frears left wing cross, before keeping out Gardner's overhead kick. The pressure finally told as Alex Faux got the better of full back Jamie Steven's and managed to deliver the ball despite pressure from Steve Robinson, Hatch and Doyle challenged for the ball, but it was the Tivvy man who got their first, diverting the ball past Robinson, albeit with not the most convincing of touches. With Tiverton in the ascendancy, the home supporters were relieved when on 23 minutes, in Boro's first meaningful foray forward, saw Dean McDonald glance home Bradley Bubb's right wing cross, a fine finish from the Boro front man, who remianed thereafter a constant threat to Tiverton's back four. ![]() Just two minutes later, and out of nowhere Boro found themselves in front, capitalising on an error that Tivvy keeper Book will want to forget. A poor clearance from the Tiverton keeper, fell to Daryl McMahon some 25 yards from goal, who not believing his luck steadied himself before slamming the ball home. ![]() Ibe tested Book, having being played in by Bubb, who came more and more into the match as the half went on, and McMahon could only fire his free kick straight at the Tiverton custodian after a foul on Bubb. Anthony Thomas was a second half substitute for Boro replacing Bubb, and the home side continued to push for what would no doubt be the killer goal, Daryl McMahon with a number of free kicks proving fruitless. ![]() The second half remained a period of no real clear cut chances for either side, but Tiverton with only minutes remaining on the clock had one last throw of the dice, Jack King adjudged to have upended Marshall just outside the area, it was Marshall himself who stepped up to take to free kick, as he sent the ball goalwards, Robinson appeared to lose his purchase and may have found himself in more trouble had the free kick found its intended target. Boro closed out the final minutes, and now face a midweek trip to Bedford Town as they enter the month of February with, including this trip, a further seven scheduled league matches pencilled in the diary.
